Miriam Calvert
Massage

Miriam has had a long interest in the human body and started her massage journey learning Thai yoga massage in India 20 years ago. After a long break she returned to being a massage therapist and completed  1.5 year Advanced Thai Massage diploma at the London Institute of Thai Yoga Massage. As well as training as a Sports Massage Therapist (level 4) she holds a Diploma in Structural Balancing with the College of Classical Massage. She sees massage as a tool to not only work on the various muscles and release physical tension but also a way to allow the client to let go and relax deeply. Her approach to massage is client centred and will always be tailored to reflect the clients preferences and needs. When she does not give a treatment she teaches yoga. She is fascinated by the body and mind as a whole which informs her work as a massage therapist.

Offering at Hurst Health Hub

Deep Tissue Thai Massage

Experience the rejuvenating power of Traditional Thai deep tissue techniques. This therapeutic treatment uses stronger pressure and slow deep compression to effectively massage muscles incorporating joint mobilisation and stretches, providing relief for tired, stressed and achy bodies.

Thai massage is a time-tested bodywork tradition and a great way to relieve stress, increase blood circulation and maintain an integrally balanced body.

Thai Herbal Compress Massage

A unique treatment featuring gently warmed compresses filled with medicinal herbs, roots and leaves. All natural ingredients designed to help achy muscles and relieve joint pain. These warm compresses, used in Thailand for centuries as a bodywork technique, help to relax and invigorate the body and mind, soothing sore and overworked muscles.

The treatment starts with warming the tissues with the compresses and letting the herbs and warmth sink into and relax the muscles. After the heat worked its magic the therapist followed with a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating Thai inspired massage.

Sports Massage with Structural Balancing

This treatment involves an in-depth assessment of posture and alignment of the body. We look at where the body may hold tightness or there may be limited range of motion. The massage treatment course is then focused on correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that may be caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. The application of sports massage, prior to and after exercise, may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury.
